How to Choose the Right Holiday Experience for Your Corporate Event

One of my favorite parts of planning holiday events isn’t talking about photo booths.

It’s talking about people.

Every event has its own personality.

Some are elegant galas where everyone is dressed to the nines. Others are relaxed employee celebrations where coworkers finally get a chance to unwind together after a busy year. Some are client appreciation events. Others are family holiday parties where kids, grandparents, and colleagues are all sharing the same space.

That’s why I never believe there’s one “best” holiday experience.

The best experience is the one that fits the event.

When clients reach out, one of the first questions they usually ask is:

“What do you recommend?”

My answer is almost always…

“Tell me about your event first.”

Before we ever talk about cameras, prints, or keepsakes, I want to know who’s coming, what the atmosphere will be like, and how you want guests to feel when they leave.

Those answers usually tell us everything we need to know.

If your event is elegant, keep the experience elegant.

Not every holiday event calls for oversized props and a festive backdrop.

Sometimes the event itself is the star.

If you’re hosting a black-tie gala, executive reception, or client appreciation event, the experience should feel like it belongs in that environment.

That’s one of the reasons I love Spotlight.

It’s simple.

Guests step into a dramatic circle of light, and within seconds they’re creating portraits that feel polished, modern, and a little unexpected.

It doesn’t compete with the décor.

It complements it.

Some of my favorite event experiences are the ones that quietly become one of the most talked-about moments of the evening.

If your goal is bringing people together, think differently.

Some holiday parties aren’t about formal portraits.

They’re about connection.

Coworkers grabbing a photo together before dinner.

Families gathering for a holiday picture.

Teams celebrating a successful year.

That’s where our Holiday Portrait Studio really shines.

With a beautifully styled holiday backdrop, oversized seasonal props, and professional lighting, it creates a space where guests naturally gather.

People laugh.

They pull coworkers into the frame.

Someone inevitably says, “Let’s get one with the whole team.”

Those are the moments that make holiday events feel personal.

Don’t underestimate what people take home.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that people still love leaving with something they can hold.

Yes, everyone appreciates a digital gallery.

But there’s something different about walking away with a keepsake.

It’s why we’ve expanded our holiday collection to include options like custom Trading Cards, ornaments, snow globe picture frames, magnets, keychains, and our newest Holiday Greetings cards.

The keepsake isn’t the experience.

It’s the reminder of it.

Months later, someone sees that ornament on their tree or that magnet on the refrigerator, and they’re reminded of a great evening with friends and coworkers.

That’s pretty special.

Personalization changes everything.

The experiences guests remember most usually have one thing in common.

They feel personal.

Sometimes that’s as simple as choosing the holiday greeting that appears on their card before it prints.

Sometimes it’s creating an AI holiday scene designed specifically for the event.

Sometimes it’s incorporating company branding in a way that feels thoughtful instead of promotional.

Those little choices make guests feel like they’re part of the experience instead of simply moving through it.

You don’t have to figure it out on your own.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that clients think they need to know exactly what they want before reaching out.

You don’t.

That’s my job.

As an Experience Curator, I spend a lot of time helping clients think through what will work best for their event—not what happens to be the newest experience or the most popular one.

Sometimes Spotlight is the perfect fit.

Sometimes it’s the Holiday Portrait Studio.

Sometimes it’s something completely custom.

Every recommendation starts the same way:

What do you want your guests to remember?

Once we answer that question, everything else becomes much easier.

Let’s Design Something That Fits Your Event

Holiday events don’t need to feel the same year after year.

Whether you’re planning an employee celebration, client appreciation event, nonprofit gala, hotel gathering, or corporate holiday party, the right experience should feel like it belongs there—not like it was added at the last minute.

If you’re planning a holiday event in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia, New York City, or beyond, we’d love to help you create something that’s thoughtful, engaging, and designed around your guests.

Frequently Asked Questions About Holiday Photo Experiences in DC

What holiday experience is best for a corporate holiday party?

It depends on the atmosphere you’re trying to create. A formal gala may be better suited to Spotlight, while a Holiday Portrait Studio is a great fit for employee celebrations and family-friendly events. During our consultation, we’ll recommend the experience that best fits your event, guests, and goals.

How far in advance should we book a holiday event?

The earlier, the better. Many organizations begin planning holiday events in the summer to secure their preferred date and experience. Booking early also gives us more time to customize your activation.

Can the experience be customized for our company?

Absolutely. We can incorporate your branding, event theme, custom overlays, AI scenes, keepsakes, and other personalized elements to create an experience that feels unique to your event.

Do you travel outside of Washington, DC?

Yes. We create holiday experiences throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia and beyond for corporate events, hotels, nonprofits, conferences, and brand activations.

I’m not sure which experience is right for our event. Can you help?

Of course. That’s one of my favorite parts of the process. We’ll talk about your event, your guests, and what you want people to remember, then recommend the experience that fits best.

Still deciding? I’d be happy to help you think through the options. Every holiday event is different, and finding the right experience starts with understanding your guests—not choosing from a list.
